Qvar inhaler is a medicine available by a prescription from a doctor. It is used to prevent and control symptoms such as breathing problems associated with asthma. This medicine doesn’t work immediately and shouldn’t be used to treat an ongoing asthma attack.

Qvar inhaler contains medicine with an active ingredient, Beclomethasone, a part of a class of drugs known as corticosteroids.

Beclomethasone alleviates breathing problems by reducing swelling and irritation of the airways in the lungs. This makes it easier for the person to breathe. You can’t use Qvar to treat an ongoing asthmatic attack.

If used daily as prescribed by your doctor, a Qvar inhaler is very beneficial in preventing asthma attacks. It helps control symptoms that accompany an asthma attack, like wheezing or a night-time cough.

You’ll start noticing a difference in your asthma attacks in a couple of days after you begin using a Qvar inhaler.

You can take a Qvar inhaler at least twice a day. However, your doctor might prescribe you a different dose depending on the severity of your symptoms and medical conditions.

The Qvar inhaler comes with a set of instructions in the information leaflet that comes with the medication. You need to inhale the medication by mouth, at least twice a day. Your doctor might increase or decrease your dosage depending on your symptoms.

You need to stand or sit upright when you have a Qvar inhaler and shake the inhaler a few times before using it.

Hold the inhaler with your thumb on the base and fingers on the top of the canister to form a C shape with your hand, and start inhaling it through your mouth. Just after you begin to breathe in, press down the top of the inhaler to dispense the medicine. Replace the mouthpiece cover after use. The canister indicates the number of inhalations you can use it for.

If you have to take more than one puff of the Qvar inhaler, wait one minute before taking the second one. If you are using any other type of inhaler with this medication, wait one minute between each medication, and use Qvar at the end.

Remember to rinse your mouth with water after every use to prevent dry mouth and oral yeast infections from using the inhaler. Spit out the water after rinsing.

Don’t wash your inhaler or any part of it in water to wash it.

To make sure you’re making the optimum use of this medication, use it regularly at the same time every day.

You might see an improvement in your symptoms in a day, but you’ll see the full benefit of this medication after you’ve been using it regularly for 3 weeks. Don’t stop taking this medication unless advised by your doctor.

Most adults and children over the age of 12 can take Qvar inhalers, but medicines react differently on different people. Qvar inhaler should be used with caution by:

  • People who have had a tuberculosis infection.
  • People who have suffered from a chest infection.
  • People who have suffered an eye infection or a mouth infection.
  • People who avoid have to alcohol for any reason because the Qvar inhaler contains trace amounts of ethanol.

Pregnant women should only use the Qvar inhaler under the supervision of their doctor. Breastfeeding mothers should also seek their doctor’s opinion before using a Qvar inhaler since beclometasone may pass into breast milk.

Qvar inhaler is a safe medication that almost anyone can use. However, here are a few groups of people who should avoid Qvar inhalers. They are:

  • People who are allergic to any ingredient of the medication.
  • Children under 12 years of age should not use qvar inhalers.

Some medicines are effective on some people but might cause side effects to a minority of the patients who take them. Qvar inhaler has a few common side effects that a select few people experience. These side effects are mild and go away by themselves. The common side effects are:

  • Thrush infection of the mouth and throat because of using the inhaler. This can be avoided by rinsing your mouth each and every time you use the inhaler.
  • Throat irritation
  • Hoarse voice
  • Easy bruising after using this medicine.
  • Qvar inhaler may also cause high blood pressure.
  • This medicine might also weaken your immune system.
  • A very rare side effect is an unexpected narrowing of the airways called paradoxical bronchospasm.
  • Another very rare side effect is Cushing’s syndrome. Symptoms include the suppression of the adrenal glands, cataracts, glaucoma, slowed growth in children and adolescents or decreased bone mineral density may occur. But this side effect might result from taking the medicine in high doses for prolonged periods of time without any regulation from a medical professional.
  • People might experience sleep disturbance, depression or anxiety from taking this medicine.

Another very rare side effect include hyperactivity, behavioural changes, and aggression — this rare side effect is mostly seen in children.

If you think you might experience a side effect from this medication, then contact your doctor immediately for medical assistance.

It is important to tell your doctor if you are taking any medication when you have been prescribed a Qvar inhaler, including over-the-counter medicines, herbal medicine and supplements, to make sure that the combination is safe. Qvar inhaler can interact with other medications and cause severe side effects.

You should be careful if you’re using other medications with corticosteroids since you are more likely to be affected by side effects. In this case, your doctor might want to monitor you closely.

It is also important to note that some medicines might not be suitable for you because you have asthma.

You can buy Qvar online from MedsNow. The medicines are delivered conveniently to your doorstep.

You can store Qvar in a cool, dark place away from moisture. Keep the cap on the inhaler on when not in use.
