Jext is an emergency usage pen device pre-filled with adrenaline (or epinephrine) to be used in life-threatening allergy (anaphylaxis). Jext is filled with liquid containing adrenaline and works faster to provide immediate relief in case of anaphylaxis. Jext is the pen device intended for self-administration or caregiver or family member, in emergency condition only. People having a history of anaphylaxis should carry a Jext device all the time.

Jext is a pre-filled pen device that contains adrenaline or epinephrine. Jext is to be used in case of severe acute anaphylaxis, i.e., severe acute allergic reaction to a food item, chemical or insect bite or drugs. Usage of Jext is for emergency purpose only.

Adrenaline or epinephrine is naturally secreted in the human body under stress condition or in emergencies. Adrenaline offers immediate relief from the hypersensitivity reactions to allergies or anaphylaxis. Adrenaline is a potent vasoconstrictor, as a result of which it offsets the increased vascular permeability and vasodilatation in anaphylactic shock. Vasodilation and enhanced vascular permeability in anaphylactic shock characteristically result in hypotension and fluid retention (or swelling). Thus, Jext is used to treat anaphylaxis.

  • Jext is an emergency usage medicine only.
  • People having a history of anaphylaxis should always carry Jext with them.
  • In addition to epinephrine, Jext also contains sodium metabisulphite and sodium chloride. Hence, people allergic to sodium metabisulphite should not use it.
  • People allergic to adrenaline should avoid using Jext.
  • People with high heart rate, atherosclerosis or any other severe heart disease should avoid using Jext.
  • Women in labour should not be given Jext.

  • For children, 15- 30 Kg body weight should be given 150µg dose to treat severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis.

The dose of Jext is dependent upon the bodyweight of the patient.

Before using Jext, the structure and parts of the Jext should be clear. The following steps are to be followed for the usage of Jext.
