Piriton Syrup is a liquid medication suitable for patients aged above1 year for providing quick relief from allergic symptoms. Piriton syrup contains Chlorphenamine, an anti-histamine medicine that provides symptomatic relief from allergic symptoms like itching, swelling, redness, watery eyes, and rashes in hay fever, dust allergy, pet allergy, mite and mould allergy, insect bite, vasomotor rhinitis, urticaria, angioneurotic oedema, drug reactions and other allergic reactions. Piriton syrup is also helpful in relieving the patient from itching in chickenpox.

In patients having a known history of allergies, Piriton syrup can be taken in anticipation of an allergic reaction, for, e.g., in pollen season or before visiting a pet family. In such a scenario, the patient can initiate the dose of Piriton syrup in advance. In pollen season, patients susceptible to hay fever can take Piriton syrup daily to avoid catching up with the allergy. For getting relief from allergic reaction or chickenpox associated with itching, patients can consume Piriton for a day or two or till the symptoms subside. However, in all the situations mentioned above, the syrup dose should not exceed the recommended daily dose for the patient.

Allergic reactions are the outcome of the release of histamine in the body when exposed to an antigen. Antigens are substances recognized by the body as 'foreign material', and their exposure induces a chain of reaction that leads to the release of histamine in the body. Histamine causes various allergic reactions like itching, swelling, redness etc. Chlorphenamine is an anti-histaminic medicine. Chlorphenamine blocks the histamine receptors resulting in diminishing the action of histamine on the human body. Thus, providing relief from swelling, itching, watery eyes and rashes in an allergy.
