Rizatriptan is a selective serotonin receptor agonist medication used to treat migraine headaches and other symptoms associated with the condition. It is an effective pain-relief medicine for severe to moderate migraine attacks. Rizatriptan helps treat migraine attacks wherein medicines like analgesics such as ibuprofen or combination analgesics such as Excedrin have proven ineffective.

Rizatriptan reduces headaches and other migraine symptoms, including vomiting, nausea, and sensitivity to light or sound. This medication cannot prevent the onset of a migraine attack or reduce migraine attacks.

Rizatriptan is a prescription medication used to treat migraine attacks and relieve headache, pain, and other migraine symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound. Taking a dose of Rizatriptan promptly, at the onset of a migraine headache, can offer quick relief and decrease the need for other pain medications.

It is essential to note that Rizatriptan helps stop a migraine attack after it has begun and you have begun to experience the symptoms. This medication cannot prevent future migraine attacks or reduce the frequency of migraine attacks.

Rizatriptan belongs to a group of medicines known as serotonin-receptor agonists or Triptans. Triptan medications stimulate the brain receptors of the naturally occurring substance serotonin. When you take Rizatriptan, these brain receptors are stimulated, and the blood vessels around the brain are narrowed. It blocks the pain signals and the release of substances that can cause a migraine in the human body.

Rizatriptan effectively stops the throbbing pain, nausea and other severe migraine symptoms to offer pain relief.

Rizatriptan tablets are an effective medication to relieve migraine symptoms, such as throbbing headache with or without aura. There are various benefits of taking Rizatriptan. Some of them are listed below:

  • Rizatriptan provides long-lasting relief from migraine and related problems such as headaches, nausea, feeling sick, sensitivity to sound and light, etc.

  • Rizatriptan provides relief within half an hour of taking the tablet.

  • Migraine attacks can be a debilitating condition that interferes with your ability to go about your day-to-day work. Rizatriptan helps you to cope with the symptoms of a migraine attack.

  • Knowing that an effective remedy for coping with migraine is at hand can help you feel more confident and allows you to live your life to the fullest.

Rizatriptan is a prescription medicine for migraines, and you should follow the directions given by your doctor or pharmacists when using the medication. Also, make sure you read the information given in the patient information leaflet available in the pack.

Rizatriptan pills are recommended exclusively for migraine headaches and should not be taken for any other kind of headache or pain relief. This medication should only be prescribed to those people who have been diagnosed with migraine after a thorough examination. Here are the general instructions for using Rizatriptan.

  1. You can take this medication with or without food.

Rizatriptan can raise your blood pressure. When taking Rizatriptan, check your blood pressure often, and if advised by your doctor, get your heart function also checked.

Rizatriptan is a prescription-only medicine, and so it is advisable to follow the dosage as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor or pharmacist will tell you the required dose of Rizatriptan for your migraine. As Rizatriptan works to stop migraine attacks and not prevent them, it is advisable to take your prescribed amount of Rizatriptan shortly after the onset of your migraine headache. You can also take it any time during a migraine attack. Usually, the recommended dose for Rizatriptan is as follows.

  • Rizatriptan is available in 10mg tablets. The recommended dose for adults 18 years old and above is 10mg of Rizatriptan.

  • If there is a response to the first dose and your headache feels better, but it comes back after some time, another dose may be taken after two hours.

  • The maximum dose of Rizatriptan is 20mg in 24 hours.

  • If there is no relief from migraine symptoms after the first dose, it is not advisable to take two doses of Rizatriptan for one migraine attack.
