Minocin MR Capsules are an antibiotic medication recommended for the treatment of acne in adults. Minocin belongs to the group of antibiotics termed tetracycline antibiotics. This medication inhibits the growth of acne-causing bacteria and clears the infection. MR refers to ‘modified-release’ which means that the active ingredient in the medicine is released slowly to maximize the antibiotic effect.

Minocin is used for the treatment of acne and other bacterial infections in the human body such as urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, skin infections, gonorrhea, etc. Most commonly Minocin MR Capsules are prescribed for the treatment of acne.

When the sebaceous glands in your skin produce excess sebum. Acne-causing bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes begin to feed on the excess sebum. This can irritate and inflame the sebaceous glands to result in acne.Minocin MR Capsules contain the active ingredient minocycline. This is a tetracycline antibiotic that stops the production of the protein needed by acne-causing bacteria to survive. This helps the body’s natural defense mechanism in eliminating the bacteria and healing the sebaceous glands to clear up the infection.
