Soolantra belongs to a group of medicines called avermectins that have anti-parasitic and anti-inflammatory properties. Soolantra is a topical cream that is most commonly prescribed to treat rosacea, a skin disease where symptoms include inflammation, redness and pimples on the affected area.

Soolantra is very effective when used to treat rosacea and its symptoms like redness, inflammation and pimples. Rosacea is a common skin disorder that causes redness, inflammation and pimples. The cause of rosacea is still not known. Using Soolantra for two weeks helps reduce these symptoms significantly. Since Soolantra is a topical cream, it can be used by almost anyone over the age of 18.

Soolantra contains ivermectin at the strength of 10mg per gram of cream. The recommended dose is a pea-sized portion to be applied once a day after you have washed your face thoroughly. If you use more Soolantra cream than advised, then please wash the excess cream from the face and seek medical attention if you have any side effects.The duration of the treatment can vary from person to person, but be sure to follow your prescription advice on how you must use the cream. On average, treatment will be for 12 weeks. 

If you forget to use your Soolantra cream, then do not double the next dose. Skip the forgotten dose and apply the prescribed amount of cream to your skin the next day.

Using Soolantra cream is very easy. Here are the steps:

  • First, wash your face gently with lukewarm water and mild soap so that it is free of external irritants.

  • Then pat your face dry with a towel.

  • The cap on Soolantra cream is child-resistant, so you need to press down on the cap and twist it anti-clockwise.

  • Take a pea-sized amount on your fingers and apply a thin layer on the areas on your face affected by rosacea.

  • Wash your hands immediately after using the cream.

  • Wait for Soolantra cream to dry and then you can apply other products like makeup and moisturiser that you normally use.

  • Make sure you do not get Soolantra cream in your eyes or inside your nose or mouth.

Soolantra cream is a topical ointment that is generally safe for topical application, but a really small minority can be prone to the side effects below; if you notice one of the side effects listed below, call your doctor immediately.

  • A burning feeling on the area of application

  • Irritation, itching or dry skin

  • Redness and inflammation in the area of application.

  6. Can I use a moisturiser after SoolantraSoolantra contains ingredients like glycerin which will moisturise your skin. Once it has dried completely, you can use a separate moisturiser and makeup on your face. A separate moisturiser might help prevent flare-ups of rosacea from triggers like cold weather. Make sure the moisturiser or makeup does not have any ingredients which can make your rosacea worse.
