Ventolin Evohaler is a type of 'blue inhaler' that is used for immediate relief during an asthma attack. Blue inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, and they help reduce chest tightness, breathlessness and wheeze caused by asthma. Breathe out as much as you can and then place the inhaler mouthpiece inside your mouth. Close your lips in a way that the mouthpiece is between your teeth but you do not bite it.
Start breathing in through your mouth. As you do so, press the canister and that will release one puff of the medicine. Keep breathing deeply and steadily. And try to hold your breath as long as you can.
After taking one puff, wait for 30 seconds. Then repeat the same process to take one more puff.
After having taken the medicine, replace the mouthpiece cover.
The medicine should be used with caution by patients if you:
have high blood pressure
have had heart problems
have a hyperactive thyroid
The medicine can sometimes cause short term side effects such as:
An increased heart-rate
Tremors
Headaches

Follow these precautions while taking Ventolin:
Always keep your inhaler dry and clean.
Store it with the mouthpiece cap to prevent any dust or bacteria from contaminating it.
Clean your inhaler at least once every week.
To clean it, remove the canister from the inhaler and run warm water over it for about 30 seconds.
Remove any excess water and let the canister dry out completely before you put the inhaler back on.
