Celebrex is a prescription medicine that contains Celecoxib as an active ingredient. Celecoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) helpful in relieving acute pain, arthritis pain, and menstrual discomfort and pain.

Celebrex comes in a capsule form is to be consumed orally. Celebrex is prescribed for treating rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, short-term (or acute) pain, menstrual discomfort and cramps.

Celebrex contains Celecoxib. Celecoxib is a cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor. COX-2 is the enzyme involved in the production of prostaglandins during the inflammation process. Prostaglandins are the substances that cause swelling, pain, redness and tenderness at the site of inflammation.  Inhibition of COX-2 by Celecoxib reduces the production of the prostaglandins, thereby reducing the pain associated with an inflammatory condition.

Celebrex is a prescription product that provides relief from pain and inflammation in acute pain, arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual discomfort and cramps and other inflammation-associated pain in the body.

Celebrex is available as a capsule, in two strengths viz., 100mg and 200 mg. The dose of Celecoxib varies from 200-400 mg per day depending upon the medical condition. Accordingly, the Celebrex capsules are to be consumed once or twice daily, depending upon the prescription.
