Contraceptive pill Microgynon is a reliable and effective medication for women not wanting to get pregnant. It may also be prescribed to women who complain of irregular, heavy, or painful periods; in some cases, Microgynon pills make the menstrual cycle less frequent and periods much lighter and less painful.

The active ingredients of Microgynon are levonorgestrel and Ethinylestradiol.

There are two types of Microgynon pills: Microgynon 30 and Microgynon 30 ED. Microgynon 30 has 21 pills for three weeks of a month, and Microgynon 30 ED has 28 pills – 21 active Microgynon pills and seven inactive pills for those who do not prefer taking a break.

  • It is an extremely reliable birth control pill (99.9% effective) if taken correctly.

  • It may make premenstrual symptoms less severe; it is often prescribed to women who experience painful and heavy periods.

  • It doesn’t interrupt sex.

Like other contraceptive pills Microgynon  works in three ways:

  • It prevents the ovaries from ripening and releasing an egg every month.

  • It makes the entrance of a womb thicken, preventing sperm from entering inside and fertilising an egg.

  • It alters the lining of the uterus and does not let an egg to embed and grow in it.

  • If you start taking Microgynon pills on the first day of your period, you will be protected against pregnancy immediately.

  • If you start taking pills on any other day, you will have to use condoms or another emergency contraception for the next seven days.

You can stop taking Microgynon pills any time you wish to, and you will not be protected against pregnancy anymore. When you stop the pill, your periods may be thrown off because the uterus might get confused. So, it may take up to three months before you start getting your period or up to six months before your periods become regular again. However, check with your doctor if you need to take a pregnancy test to be sure.

You can buy Microgynon online at MedsNow. You can book an online consultation with one of our expert GPs, get your prescription, and place an order of birth control pill Microgynon.
