Imigran Radis tablets are a medication created to treat the symptoms of an acute migraine attack. They contain the active ingredient sumatriptan, is a drug that is classified as a serotonin agonist. The drug is a painkiller that is specifically prepared for relieving migraine attacks swiftly and effectively.

Imigran Radis is used to treat acute migraine attacks. You should take the medicine as soon as you get an attack, with or without aura. However, the medicine is known to be effective even when taken at an advanced stage of a migraine attack.

When a person experiences a migraine attack, the excruciating headache is due to widening or swelling of the blood vessels that are present in the brain. Imigran works on the serotonin receptors in these blood vessels by narrowing them. Further, it inhibits the action of the trigeminal nerve. This relieves the headache and its associated symptoms such as feeling sick or sensitivity to sound or light. The medicine takes about half an hour to start showing its effect.

Benefits of Imigran tablets include:

  • Relieve from migraine

  • Relief from sensitivity to sound or light

  • Relief from being sick or nauseous

People above the age of 18 years should take this medicine as soon as they experience a migraine attack. Swallow the tablet whole with a drink. You may take it with or without food.

If you have a severe attack and the medicine does not seem to provide relief, then do not take another dose. Consult your doctor and he or she will suggest another medicine to suit your medical condition.

If the medicine relieves the pain and then you experience the pain coming back, you may take a second dose. However, make sure that you do not take this dose within two hours of your first dose.

The maximum number of tablets that are recommended are just 2 tablets for one attack or within 24 hours. Always remember that you should not exceed the recommended dosage.

You must remember that Imigran Radis is a fast-relieving tablet for a migraine attack after it has occurred. Do not take the medicine as a preventive measure, it is proven that it will not work for this purpose. And do not take an overdose of the medicine above and beyond what is recommended by your doctor. If you experience any side effects for more than 30 minutes after having the medicine, then immediately consult your doctor. If you have a risk of cardiac disease, you may be advised to take the medicine’s first dose at the doctor’s clinic where he can monitor your body’s response to the drug. You will also need regular heart check-ups while taking the drug.
